Our story

It all started with one duck.

We had a simple question: what if exploring your city felt as exciting as a treasure hunt?

So in 2025 we stuck an NFC chip on a duck, hid it in Phoenix, and waited. People found it. People loved it. Now there are ducks hiding in cities everywhere, and a whole flock of duck hunters out there tracking them down — turning everyday streets into playgrounds of discovery, one find at a time.

Okay, technically it started with five ducks. 3D printing is hard.

Why we do it

Our mission

To get you exploring your surroundings, connecting with your community, and rediscovering the joy of adventure in everyday life.

Every duck you find is part of a bigger story — one about curiosity, community, and the magic that happens when you wander off your usual route. We're building more than a game. We're building an excuse to go outside, look closer, and share the adventure with the people around you.

What we believe

Our values

These four ideas guide everything we do, from designing new features to picking the next hiding spot in your neighborhood.

Community first

The hunt is better together. Everything we build is about bringing people out of their houses and into each other's orbit.

Playful tech

NFC chips, live maps, leaderboards — we use clever technology, but only ever in service of a really good time.

Local exploration

The best hiding spots are the ones your city forgot to brag about. We help you find the hidden gems in your own backyard.

Everyone hunts

From casual Sunday strollers to hunters gunning for the top of the leaderboard — the flock has room for you.

Duck HQ, Sacramento & Phoenix

The tiny team behind the hunt

We're a small, extremely enthusiastic crew of adventurers, technologists, and game designers based in Sacramento, California and Phoenix, Arizona.

What started as a weekend project has grown into a worldwide community of duck hunters. When we're not hiding ducks or shipping new features, you'll find us scouting local parks, testing new hiding spots, and dreaming up your next find.
