The hunt, step by step

Four steps to your first find

Getting started is easy. Follow the trail below and you'll be claiming ducks before you know it!

1

Download the app

Grab Where the Duck for free, set up your hunter profile, and you're officially part of the flock. That's it — no tickets, no fees, no experience required.

2

Follow the map to a duck

Ducks are hiding in parks, plazas, and secret spots near you. The map and hints point the way — keep your eyes peeled for stickers, magnets, and full-on physical ducks in unexpected places!

3

Tap your phone to claim it

Found one? Tap your phone on the duck to claim it and climb the leaderboard! NFC handles the magic, and some ducks hold hints to other locations, choose-your-own-adventure detours, or fun local lore.

4

Show off your finds

Every find earns XP and a spot on the leaderboards. Track your progress, share discoveries with the flock, challenge your friends, and become the top duck hunter in your area!

Field notes

Know before you go

A few things every seasoned duck hunter learns along the trail.

Where ducks land

Parks, plazas, local shops, famous landmarks — if it's a spot worth visiting, a duck has probably landed there. New hiding spots pop up all the time.

Every tap is a surprise

Beyond XP, a duck might reveal a hint to another location, a choose-your-own-adventure detour, or a bit of local lore. You never know until you tap!

Leave it hiding

Tuck the duck back where you found it so the next hunter can find it too! A good hiding spot is a gift that keeps on giving.

Ready, set, quack!

You know the steps. Now grab the app, follow the map, and go claim your first duck — it is out there waiting right now.

Your first find is closer than you think.
